MOSCOW, Feb 4 (PRIME) -- The situation with transportation of grain by trucks is critical and may hurt grain exports, the national association of Russian exporters of agricultural products said in a statement on Monday.
“Currently, the situation with transportation of grain by vehicle transport is becoming critical. In some regions of Southern and North Caucasus, groups of people supported by the Gruzavtotrans association (of truck transportation companies) have been blocking loading of grain for several weeks under the guise of fighting with violations of tonnage regulations in grain transportation,” the statement read.
Transportation by vehicles is the key element of logistics in grain exports, and some export terminals are completely dependent on trucks. Continuous blockade of grain loading will lead to a significant reduction of grain exports.
The association is against a transfer of responsibility for compliance with tonnage regulations from transportation companies to cargo senders and export terminals.
Gruzavtotrans did not provide comment.
